Return to play & new training venue

RETURN TO PLAY UPDATE & NEW TRAINING VENUE
The phase 4 return to lacrosse guidelines are available on the England Lacrosse website here https://www.englandlacrosse.co.uk/coronavirus
The key points are:

  • NOT a full return to play
  • Outdoor return only
  • Rules changes – no draw, hygiene breaks (training and competition)
  • All other rules can be played as normal in drills, training and games.
  • Social distancing must be observed between drills and play
  • Pre-Attendance Self-Assessment form (more info next week)
  • Register and temperature checks on arrival (more info next week)
The guidlines above all help us get back to some training and some sort of game play! Due to the restrictions some key parts of our normal training have to adapted. We have to change to an outdoor location, and we have to restrict numbers to 30 allowed at training. The new venue is Ashburnham School, 17 Blantyre Street London  SW10 0DT. We will continue to train on Thursdays from 7pm-9pm, and the first training back is due to be next Thursday 10th August.
In order to manage the attendance for this, and for any potential future matches, we need to update our processes for registering availability. We have set up a new team account on the team management system Spond. Please download the Spond app as it will be only way to attend training (you can access it through the web as well). You will shortly receive an invite to the address you are register with, which will help you join the West London Spond account directly. Please allow app notifications as it will help you see when any info or events are put on there.
Once you are a member please can you access the poll that is on there regarding whether you are interested in returning to training so that we can get an idea of numbers. Returning is obviously optional, as some people may not yet feel comfortable to return, and we would just like to gauge how many this might be.  Our Covid officer is Lara Owen, so if you have any questions, please let us know and we will try to address anyone’s worries about returning.
The first training session will be uploaded as an event in the next few days and you will then be able to add your attendance. We look forward to seeing people back at a session soon!

We are still most definitely keen for new members so please fill out the form on the Contact Us page.

West London – proud supporters of Kenya Lacrosse

West London Lacrosse Club are proud to be sponsoring a Kenyan Lacrosse Player for the 2018/19 season, which includes transport to and from training, food, water, trainers and tops.

The current target of Kenya Lacrosse is to get the U19 Kenya Lacrosse team into the 2019 Women’s World Championships in Canada, this will be the first African country to compete on the female lacrosse world stage.

With the long term goal to provide an opportunity for young women to play lacrosse throughout Kenya, a future aim is also to get Team Kenya to the Olympics in Los Angeles in 2028.

Storm Trentham introduced lacrosse into a few schools in Western Kenya from 2007 and remains the Head Coach of Kenya Women’s Lacrosse. Along this journey, Kenya has now been recognised as the 54th lacrosse nation by the Federation of International Lacrosse.

Along with Storm, there are many West London players that have also supported Kenya Lacrosse since the sport was introduced locally.

West London are excited at the opportunity to assist in the development of the game internationally and support this great cause. Sponsorship will be through a small portion of each member’s subscriptions fees this year.
